Effective but very expensive
Does what it says but is very expensive, I think Kindle Fire should come with a charger (other than the cable supplied to charge through a computer and which takes all night)
Don not buy!!! Waste of money!!!!
Highly overpriced. Equivalent product can be purchased for less than £5.00
These are produced in bulk for less than £1.00, the rest is profit.
Be sensible and look at the other chargers you have for your tech equipment, and save yourself £17.00

Ok it is an adapter…
Tablet Power Adapter, Kindle Powerfast for Accelerated Charging, UK(for Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD) I received a Kindle Fire Hd for Christmas, I was offered this rather expensive adapter for quicker charging and I have to say it certainly does work. Personally I always charged my previous kindle through the night so I that I was able to continue my addictive reading. But as I knew the kindle fire lost power so much quicker than the older kindle designs I thought this would be perfect for me. I found the adapter certainly does power the kindle Fire a lot quicker than the earlier models which were supplied with the kindles, but is it worth the money which it is regularly for sale at which is usually £17.99 it really depends on you the customer…if you do not want to wait for your kindle fire to fully charge using the older plug then this is certainly a good buy but if you are like me are happy enough to charge you kindle nightly then stick to the older design of adapter. It is really up to you if you want to buy this adapter but I will certainly say it does work and it works well.
I highly recommend the Tablet Power Adapter, Kindle Powerfast for accelerated charging as it is quick on the charge and it does everything which Amazon advertises.

It works well, but it’s expensive and the prongs don’t fold
As with all Amazon Kindle accessories on release, this is expensive for what it is – a perfectly functional accelerated charger.
Yes, it looks nice and shiny, good positive USB cable connection and it does charge my Kindle Fire HD much quicker than a generic e-reader / Blackberry charger or when it is attached to my PC by USB, so it is a must-have if charging time is precious to you, but I would have thought this item should be included in the basic kit with the Kindle.
..and as other reviewers have already alluded to, the UK version does not fold up for easier packing when travelling.

Over priced
I think this product should have come standard with Kindle Fire HD
Also this product was over priced at £17.99

Mean spirited
Love amazon products, love my kindle fire hd, but this should have been in the box like I got with my kk. I realise the one from my kk will work but that isn’t the point- not including it in the first place and then charging through the nose for it afterwards doesn’t really create a positive customer experience.
The most expensive USB charger money can buy….
USB chargers are rated at a 5 volt output – the device it is plugged to determines the power drawn. The charger is simply a generic plug with a USB hole in it.
There are plenty of USB chargers that will do the job and cost from 99 pence to £1.99. These cheaper chargers do exactly the same. A charger should be included with the device in any case.
Amazon are using their badge to make it appear that this charger is special – Apple do the same.
The lack of knowledge, coupled with the implied threat that using the wrong charger may damage your device takes advantage of those who simply do not understand and are terrified of electricity.
A friend of mine will not listen to this and he has a separate charger for his iPad, iPhone, Kindle etc – a total of approx £100 for chargers that are interchangeable and cheaply available everywhere.
I believe Trading Standards bodies across the world should be informed of this scam.
PS I complained to Amazon that I had to buy a separate charger and had bought what was essentially a well badged item worth a tenth of the price and they promptly refunded me and said I could keep the charger. It’s in a drawer.
I use one that I bought for 1.49 from Maplins electronics.

does the job, way too expensive
Is this really worth £17.99?????, A fiver would be too much.
Its appalling that this is not included as standard with the Kindle, its an essential item – not an optional extra!! Just a money making con – shame on you Amazon. Mobile phones aren’t sold without charges or tvs without plugs and remotes, so why sell a Kindle without a charger?
What no charger
Kindle fire hd is a fantastic piece of kit but to sell it without a mains charger then charge £17.99 for it after we have bought your product. Its not until you get it out of the box that you realize that theres no charger. Very crafty!!.
Come on amazon didnt you make enough millions last year??
From one disapointed customer.

Better option than Amazon charger
If you are looking for a Kindle Fire fast charger – try the Original Samsung Charger & USB Data Cable For Galaxy S3 / S2 / Galaxy Note. Under half the price Amazon charges and does the job just the same.
